MEET THE COUNSELORS!
AMY CHEYFITZ is finishing a B.A. in
theater at the University of Michigan's Residential College focusing
on costume design and performance, working with the Head of the Drama
Concentration, Kate Mendeloff, and with the RC Players, Basement Arts,
and Rude Mechanicals, three of the university’s student-run theater
groups. She has worked on "Falling You’ll Fly", an original play that
we performed in Moscow at the 2005 International Chekhov Festival;
Garcia Lorca’s "Blood Wedding"; and "Twelfth Night" for the largest
student theatre group on campus. Over the past summer I interned in the
costume shops at both The Goodman Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare
Theatre in Chicago, IL. She has taught at two summer camps: Hidden
Valley Camp in Maine, teaching horseback riding and theatre classes such
as improvisation and Shakespeare (and supervised a production of "The
Merchant of Venice"). At Harand Camp of the Theatre Arts in Wisconsin I
worked as a vocal coach for "Guys and Dolls" and taught classes in stage
make-up, improvisation, Shakespeare, script analysis, and scene work.
She loves working with kids who are enthusiastic about theatre.
VALERIE GLEASON is
absolutely delighted to be part of CAP's Youth Theatre Camp! Valerie's
other community theater productions have been with Ann Arbor Civic
Theatre, where she has acted, done crew, collected props, designed and
run sound, but her most favorite role being a children's theater
director. Valerie last played a Bride in her December 2007 wedding, and
is next looking forward to the role of Mommy with Baby G's schedule
debut on November 10, 2008. Valerie would like to congratulate (and say
BRAVO!) to all of the campers for their hard work, to thank the other
staff for their inspiration, to thank Bill for the opportunity, and to
send her love to Steve, Baby G, Mom, Dad, and "the Family" for all their
love and support!
KEN FAULK has been
involved in well over a hundred productions at theatres such as Second
City, Performance Network, Boarshead Theatre, Power Center, Planet Ant,
Mendelssohn, Quirk Theatre, Spondberg, and Riverside Art Center. Ken
was nominated by the Detroit Free Press for his Technical Achievement in
Sound Design and was awarded the Stage Manager of the Year Award by the
Oakland Press. Ken has overseen the Chelsea High School Theatre Guild
for three years. During his three years the Chelsea Theatre guild has
gone to the MIFA State Competition two times, winning in once. When Ken
is not working for the Chelsea School District he works as a
professional freelance sound designer, equity stage manager, and
technical director. Ken has been working professionally for 10 years.
STACY BUCK has been
doing theatre from the age of eight and is now delighted to help young
actors. This is Stacy's second time doing CAP's Summer Workshop and
can't wait to teach all new information. Before she stumbled upon this
opportunity Stacy was attending Adrian College where she studied theatre
and art. She was in numerous performances but her heart was really
behind the scenes. Stacy was constructing sets, Stage Managing and
preparing costumes left and right. So during this summer Stacy plans to
focus on make-up and costumes for the very young actors. She plans on
teaching the importance of having (and not having) both as well as
expanding their imagination on what certain costume and make-up
designs can be used for and what feelings they portray. Stacy can't wait
to get started!
